Vivi and Jelly Roll have many fun times in 1920's, and Vivi should know. He was there in the speakeasys all through the Prohibition era... but that is another story. Truth is, Vivi was responsible for Jelly Roll getting nickname, 'Jelly Roll', which, don;'t you believe as some would popularly assume was because it was the patter of the age for female genitalia... although Morton could certainly be one of those at times, make no mistake. But that is story for another time.  On this time, Morton and Vivi were hanging out in Ansonia Hotel in New York, 1919 and was in next booth over from AR and Little Champ. And Morton had some real sing. Now, you may say, Vivi is little champ, but not Little Champ, who was actual Little Champ, and we were have sing - Morton and Vivi, not Vivi and Little Champ... but in brtween the sing hear AR and Sport talk of name Gandil, who knew? 80G - for who? Yes, Vivi was there for when the big bankroll brankrolled the Series. But that is story for another time. No, so JR... not AR... keep up... JR - but wasnt called JR then, but for ease of narrative will call JR here, even though hew wasnt yet called JR. This is what Vivi is recounting... yes? Hope so. Keep up. So JR and Vivi was in wet NY... not wet because wasnt raining, but because was drinking and Prohibition not yet in and New York is still wet... as opposed to some that were already dry - dry from drink, but they could have been wet on any given day, if the weather was as such. Keep up. So Vivi and JR, bump into AR. And AR recognize Vivi and ask for autograph... which of course Vivi happy to oblige fan was happy to do, as makes fansd happy and happy fans is good for Vivi. Better than unhappy fan. Anyhow, he say to Vivi that Lucky will get loads drinks for JR and Vivi. But JR little jealous of AR attention on Vivi and he go and breaks fingers on piano, much to applause of all around who now know JR is Mr Morton. So now sated for please, JR ask AR for gander at legendary bankroll, which AR duly oblige with thick wads of folded notes almost a nullet proof from so many, yes? Then Lucky think funny ask for JR roll, to which JR blow raspberry, and Vivi say raspberry Jelly Roll. Everyone laugh at Lucky, who not like Vivi and over years Vivi and Lucky will have few run in, and in end Lucky will not end up on right side of Vivi... but this happens because so many ribbed at Vivi because oif Lucky rib Vivi... even though Vici has no ribs... But this is story for another time. Anyhow JR laugh a AR laugh and AR say JR should call self JR, and JR agrees, but because JR is also jealous bitch that claims he invent jazz when really it was Vivi, and all New Orleans knows it also, he ridicules Vivi and cut Vivi name from the pages of biographys and cut from pay packet also, but that OK, because Big Bankroll still live Vivi, as Vivi was good at what Vivi do, which AR like... which is not uncommon for those afficiados of the posts WWI hopscotch scene, yes? That was when AR cal over Little Champ again and say that Vivi is true now little champ, but Little Champ is also jealous bitch. But that is different story. Anyhow, that si how Jelly Roll Morton get name. True Story.  |

Lightning just got wet reading that. Is pleased.  No need to hide the patter for want a drink even in city where Lightning live was dry, idk was dry or wet then... or now  ... maybe clandestine speakeasys exist today where only Dr Pepper and Fruit Shoot are sold and on tap ginger and root, but amendment get lift, anyhow so even if city Lightning is in was dry, it is OK to be wet now. But more so, even pleased that Vivi able to please and make wet, evn in places tha are dry. Deserts are dry. So are martini - but they will still get wet if spilled. Isn't it fun? Could have picked song by Martini... not Deani Martini, but Martini that has Joey from Pixie play guitary for aforementioned Martini....s? |

Time to get back to some serious classic punk... Before Matt & Tim made up 1/2 of Rancid, they made up 2/3's of...  This brings back memories for Vivi also. |

Know it is closer to Christmas in July than Christmas, but in Vivi opinion the greatest Christmas song ever...
